On Amazon, you can put the legal guarantee notice neither in product images nor in A+ content: Amazon prohibits text on images, and guarantee information and QR codes in A+. Trade publications report that Amazon generates both labels itself from the catalogue data. So maintain the brand, model number and guarantee duration carefully.
What Amazon shows itself
According to trade publications (as of late September 2026), Amazon shows the notice on the legal guarantee in the section „Sicherheit und Produktressourcen“ (safety and product resources) on amazon.de and builds the GARAN label from catalogue attributes. The related help pages in Seller Central can only be viewed after signing in; we could not check them ourselves. Check the display on one of your own listings.
What you enter for the GARAN label
The GARAN label applies to products for which the producer gives a commercial guarantee of durability of more than two years, free of charge, for the whole good. For this, Amazon needs the following details:
| Detail | Field on Amazon |
|---|---|
| Brand | brand |
| Model number | model_number |
| Duration of the producer guarantee | extended_warranty_duration (name according to trade publications) |
Your own graphic in images or the description?
- Product images: The main image shows the product on a pure white background. For all images: no text, no seller-related information or promises.
- A+ content: Information on guarantee claims is expressly not allowed, nor are QR codes and links. Both labels contain a QR code.
- Product description: Amazon has not supported HTML formatting on detail pages since June 2021.
In practice, there is no way to place your own graphic on Amazon. Correct catalogue data is what matters.
Where you still need the GARAN label yourself
The marketplace only shows the labels in its own listings. Everywhere else, it is up to you:
- Your own online shop: On Shopify, the app adds the legal guarantee notice automatically, and the GARAN label as soon as the producer and the guarantee are entered. For other systems, there is the free widget.
- Physical shop: In print, the GARAN label must be at least 95 × 100 mm, in colour or black and white, and the legal guarantee notice at least A4 (Annexes I and II of Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1960). More in our printing guide.
- Catalogues, data sheets, packaging: voluntary, but often requested, for example by distributors.
You create the print files in the GARAN label generator from the guarantee duration, brand and model, free and without sign-up.
Check the display yourself
The obligation lies with the trader, on a marketplace too. So take a look at one of your own listings:
- Does the official graphic appear unchanged and in colour?
- Is the GARAN label shown with the product if the producer gives a commercial guarantee of durability of more than two years free of charge? Online, the directive places it directly next to the picture of the good (recital 28 of Directive (EU) 2024/825).
- Are the brand, model and guarantee duration on the label correct?

Frequently asked questions
Do I have to add the legal guarantee notice on Amazon myself?
According to trade publications, Amazon generates it itself. You would hardly be able to place your own graphic anyway, because images may not contain text and A+ may not contain guarantee information. Check the display on one of your own listings.
Can I upload the GARAN label as a product image?
No. Amazon allows neither text nor seller-related information on product images. Maintain the brand, model number and guarantee duration in the catalogue instead.
How do I check whether Amazon shows the GARAN label?
Open one of your own listings for a product with a producer guarantee of more than two years free of charge, and look next to the product image and in the section „Sicherheit und Produktressourcen“ (safety and product resources). If the label is missing, check the brand, model number and guarantee duration in the catalogue.
