Guides to the legal guarantee notice and the GARAN label
Everything about the legal guarantee notice and the GARAN label, short and with sources.
Since 27 September 2026, two new labels have applied to online shops in the EU. The legal guarantee notice informs customers about the legal guarantee of at least two years and concerns every shop that sells to consumers. The GARAN label is only added when a producer offers a free commercial guarantee of durability of more than two years on the entire good.
The obligation comes from Directive (EU) 2024/825; design and content are set out in Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1960. The guides below explain who is affected, where the labels must appear in your shop, how to add them in Shopify and other shop systems, and which legal consequences you may face. Every statement is backed by its legal basis; you will find short answers in the FAQ.
